HTS Vacuum Furnaces is proud to be an integral part of a globally significant project: CERN’s Future Circular Collider (FCC). This next-generation particle accelerator, set to be three times larger in diameter than the current LHC, will require advanced superconducting magnets to guide and control high-speed particles.
HTS’s Contribution
To support this technological challenge, HTS has designed and delivered a furnace, now installed at one of the key European partner institutes. This cutting-edge system has been developed for the heat treatment of superconducting coils—up to 2.5 metres in length—in an argon atmosphere, a critical step in the production of the FCC’s new superconducting magnets.
Performance and Innovation
The HTS furnace is engineered for treatment cycles lasting over 170 hours in a controlled atmosphere, ensuring the transformation of raw material into a high-performance conductor. With this advanced technology, CERN will be able to develop more powerful and efficient superconducting magnets, paving the way for new frontiers in particle physics. HTS Vacuum Furnaces is proud to be a strategic partner in this endeavour, bringing its expertise and innovative solutions to support scientific research and global innovation.
